2002 AVIATION IN MEMPHIS CITY SCHOOLS

On October 25, 2002, over 100 men and women, consisting of pilots, aircraft mechanics, flight attendants, air traffic controllers, gate agents, military personnel, dispatchers and other aviation-related professionals will visit 25 Memphis City schools to speak about aviation careers. The following organizations will be in attendance: Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.®, Memphis Blackhawks, Women In Aviation, National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Organization of Black Airline Pilots. Our speakers are employees of FedEx, Northwest Airlines, the Federal Aviation Administration, United Airlines, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, the Tennessee Air National Guard, the United States Air Force Academy, and other distinguished entities.

Our goal is to present students with the necessary tools for pursuing careers in the aviation industry. Today the airline industry faces near-term challenges to its growth. The future demands a significant pool of highly qualified professionals, regardless of race, creed, or religion. We are grooming young, energetic individuals who strive to be the best. Our hope is that they can experience the dream so many of us have enjoyed as a part of the aviation industry.
