RE: Annual Report of the President

Members of Memphis Chapter, TAI,

Congratulations on having completed our sixteenth year as a Tuskegee Airmen Chapter in the Memphis area.

This year we offered Memphis Chapter Educational Assistance Fund and Aviation Assistance Fund (Scholarship) awards of $1000 each.

We hosted the February 2013 MEMPHIS AVIATION PROFESSIONALS Annual Luncheon and Youth Awards and we provided tickets for students and accompanying educators to attend this luncheon at no cost to them.

We assisted in conducting the June and July 2012 Summer ACE Academy for youth ages 14-18.  Throughout the 2012-2013 School Year we continued our program of Aviation in Schools visits where Aviation Professionals visit schools throughout the school year.  Members participated in career days and gave motivational speeches.  Last year the number of schools requesting our participation increased significantly.  Consequently, we need more of our members to participate in school visits and career days to provide guidance and role models for the youth in our area.  Each one of you can help!

Welcome to our new members and thank you to the members who continue to support this organization year after year.  Your support and commitment to the goals of this organization is very much appreciated as we continue to preserve the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen of W.W.II and “engage in motivating young persons, especially minorities, toward aviation and aerospace careers; to inspire youth to outstanding achievements and leadership through social and educational activities.”

As usual, I ask that you continue to support the Educators, Parents, Students, Corporations, and other organizations who continue to assist us in achieving our goals.

Let’s “Continue the Legacy” and “Mentor the Youth”!

Sincerely,
Calvin Janes
