Congratulations on having completed our twelfth year as a Tuskegee Airmen Chapter
in the Memphis area.
This year we offered a combined total of three (3) Memphis Chapter Educational Assistance
Fund and Aviation Assistance Fund (Scholarship) awards of $1000 each.
In February 2009, we hosted the February MEMPHIS AVIATION PROFESSIONALS Annual Luncheon
and Youth Awards and provided tickets for students to attend this luncheon at no
cost to the students. The support from various organizations and individuals helped
to accommodate over 220 Memphis City School students who listened to the Bessie
Coleman monologue performed by Ms Sandra Campbell, FAA Manager.
We allocated $1500 to be used by our members to conduct the June 2009 Summer ACE
Camp for youth ages 14-18.
Throughout the 2008-09 School Year we continued our program of frequent Aviation
in Schools visits where Aviation Professionals visit schools throughout the school
year. Members participated in career days, gave motivational speeches, and conducted
Project Aviator/Aerospace at Woodale High School.
Welcome to our new members and thanks to the members who continue to support this
organization year after year. If not for the support from old members, new members,
and friends, we would not be celebrating twelve years of accomplishments and looking
forward to accomplishing more in the future.
We greatly appreciate your support and commitment to the goals of the original founders
of the Tuskegee Airmen organization, which is "to engage in motivating young persons,
especially minorities, toward aviation and aerospace careers; to inspire youth to
outstanding achievements and leadership through social and educational activities."
Please continue to support the Educators, Parents, Students, Corporations, and other
organizations who continue to assist us in achieving our goals.
